-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/07/09: Waterkeepers Chesapeake of Maryland and Waterkeeper Alliance filed a petition with the EPA seeking major changes in the way Maryland operates and enforces the Clean Water Act. Kathy Phillips, Assateague Coastkeeper says, "This action was necessary for the immediate health of our bays, rivers and creeks. We know there are solutions to the problems and we need to address this now, not later."

Fall 2009 update: Our citizen training program has launched, with our first training held summer 2009. Our newly re-designed GTDO website is live. The construction industry downturn has given us additional time to get our volunteers trained and out there monitoring construction sites. Our efforts resulted in stop work orders, increased inspections and penalties. Visit the GTDO website for more news.
