ACT Annual Dinner 2009 Highlights

ACT 2009 SPRING FLING DINNER WAS A GREAT NIGHT FOR ALL!

On March 7, friends and members of Assateague Coastal Trust attended the 2009 Spring Fling Dinner in Ocean City, MD and thanks to the nice turnout and generous support from everyone, our annual dinner was a very successful spring fundraiser.

Every year at the dinner, ACT recognizes one outstanding volunteer and names them Volunteer of the Year. This years' award went to Stacy Paulsen, who joined ACT one year ago, as our website content editor. She has spent a great deal of time updating and changing our website over the last year, as well as, designing and building the new "Get The Dirt Out" website. She has actively helped ACT with many computer problems and we are delighted to have found her.

If you weren’t there, you missed hearing our thought provoking speaker, Dave Andrews of Food and Water Watch, discuss how and why America and especially the Eastern Shore could return to traditional ways of farming and agricultural production that would be economically viable, sustainable, socially responsible and environmentally friendly.

The bidding was active for the many silent auction items and the big winners of the evening were Ken and Stacy Paulsen who took home tickets to the Daily Show in NYC to see Jon Stewart, tickets to a Lewis Black live show, and a cruise with the COASTKEEPER; and County Commissioner Louise Gulyas who left with a beautiful handmade wooden boat model by local woodworking artist Ron Pilling.

ACT thanks Choptank Electric for their generous donation to the dinner, the Stephen Decatur High School Jazz Ensemble for their wonderful music, and all our silent auction contributors.
